Well, it had to happen sooner or later. In the past two years, I’ve been reasonable happy with Dreamhost, but now, as a business, I need a hosting package which is a little more robust and scalable. I also want good support. This is where Dreamhost is, to be honest, totally crap for a UK business. Therefore, yesterday, I opted to move all my domains over to the new Grid Server package at Media Temple.

Why do that?

Well, like I said, the support at Dreamhost is pretty sub-standard for business hosting in the UK. If there’s a big problem, I’d like to pick up the phone and speak to someone about it. Also, scalability. After being Dugg a couple of times this past few months, I’ve really noticed a few problems with speed at DH (not to mention two days of down time as a result of my domain having too much throttling).

Things may be a little screwy for a while

I’m now undertaking the grim task of moving everything: email, databases, files etc. etc. before I change the DNS. I’m doing it one domain at a time, but markboulton.co.uk will be the first. So, things may be a little weird for a while until I get things up and running, but there again, they might be just fine if all goes to plan.
